Resident, Clinical Behavioral Medicine
Dr. Alison Gerken graduated from the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. During veterinary school, she served as her Class President and as the President of the Behavior Medicine and Animal Welfare Club. Following veterinary school, she completed a one-year internship at VCA San Francisco Veterinary Specialists where she then worked as an emergency clinician for another year.
Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Gerken pursued many adventures including working as an outdoor guide in Wyoming, teaching wildlife conservation in rural Africa, working as a zookeeper for several big cat sanctuaries, and coming face-to-face with a jaguar while backpacking solo in the jungles of Belize.
Dr. Gerken started her residency under the mentorship of Dr. Lisa Radosta in 2019. She is accompanied on this journey by her two kitties, Hetch-Hetchy (pictured) and Lily, whose snuggles make studying so much more fun.
