Maya and Sandra

“When we brought in Maya from the shelter, we knew we were in for a lot of work. But we thought it would be the basic potty training, eating the furniture and chewing expensive shoe type of work. We never thought it was going to be aggression-related, trying to bite my stepkids, who never owned a dog before, kind of work. We tried everything from reading everything out there, getting “invaluable dis-information” from perfect dog owners to a basic obedience trainer. And that was when my vet, after getting one of those looks we were already getting used to, recommended Dr. Radosta. My husband needed a little convincing as he had never heard of a little mutt needing a “psychiatrist” but he finally realized something needed to be done, mainly after being told, more than once that, no matter what, the dog is staying! So we did make the appointment for Maya, a stray pit mix, who, we came to find out, basically needed a translator – well, maybe more of a mediator at that point. And this is what Dr. Radosta was: a translator, a mediator, sometimes a marriage counselor, and most of the times a crime-stopper between should I go after my stepkids or after my dog. And she did it with patience, with humor, and with more patience. By email, by phone, on any given day of the week, and at any given time of the day (or night). And because of Dr. Radosta here we are today, a happy family with stepkids and a dog, all in the same house, and all in one piece even after playing catch in the backyard. Thank you so much for bringing me to where I am today – I don’t think you will ever know the extent of what you did….”
