Expert treatment. Compassionate care.
Shannon Thier, CPDT-KA, CSAT, CTDI, ABCDT
Shannon started training horses, dogs and birds in her childhood home in New York when she was 6 years old. She has been training dogs professionally since 2009. She has taught private lessons and group classes including puppy classes, basic through advanced manners, clicker training, reactive dog class, nosework and tricks. She is a certified separation anxiety trainer (CSAT), Karen Pryor Puppy Start Right instructor, AKC CGC and S.T.A.R. puppy evaluator. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, Pet Professional Guild and National Association of Canine Scent Work.
She is active in the training community. She helped found DTASC (Dog Trainers Alliance of Southern California) in 2017. She is always learning and has attended conferences, presentations, and webinars hosted by Ken Ramirez, Dr. Chris Pachel, Dr. Susan Friedman, Bob Bailey, Jesus Rosales-Ruiz, Mary Hunter, Malena DeMartini, Dr. Tim Lewis, Grisha Stewart, Helix Fairweather, Dr. Ian Dunbar, Dr. Elinor Karlsson, Sue Sternberg, Kathy Sdao, Michelle Pouliot and many others.
Personally, Shannon shared almost 17 years with her Husky/Dalmatian littermate sisters, Pongo and Tonka who changed her
life and career path leading her to pursue dog training full time. She understands what it feels like to have a dog with special needs through her personal experience with her own dogs. When not working, she can be found surfing or having fun with her Pitbull/Sighthound mix, Maeby.
In Shannon’s words: My career may be helping dogs and their humans, but when done correctly, it’s never a job, it’s a passion.
Assistant Practice Manager
Amy has always had a love for animals which leads to a full house. She not only shares her home with her husband and two sons but also their three cats, Jazzy, Jynx, and Egan as well as 2 dogs, Gemmi and Romeo. We can’t forget the male blue Iguana, Dezi, who eats much healthier than Amy.
In her free time, she loves to go camping with her family. The two dogs and Egan, the cat go with them. Egan loves to walk on a harness and even enjoys kayaking. Amy is always happier surrounded by animals and loves being a part of helping so many pets (and owners) find the way to a happier life through FVBS.
