Elizabeth and Stanley

Elizabeth and Stanley

I was referred to Dr. Radosta by my vet when my dog Stanley’s anxiety had reached an all-time high. Stanley was unable to be crated in my absence as he would bite the cage and break his teeth or paw at the crate until his footpads were bloodied. He shook uncontrollably whenever we got in the car or he had a grooming or vet appointment. He sat at my front door all day and barked at passing dogs. When on a leash, he “snapped” when another dog approached. He was earning a reputation in the neighborhood as a “mean dog”. I was truly desperate when I called Dr. Radosta for a consultation.  She evaluated Stanley and gave me a detailed plan including behavioral modification and medication.  I learned that many of Stanley’s behaviors were attributable to my own actions and that I was, in essence, reinforcing his bad behaviors. After nine months of working with Dr. Radosta, Stanley is not perfect, but as a proud “Dog Mom” I can say he IS getting there. My regular vet could not believe Stanley was the same dog when we came in for his latest exam. Stanley rested on the floor and was not nervous. He was relaxed despite receiving vaccines in a room separated from me.  He no longer “freaks out” when I leave and his on-leash reactivity to other dogs is greatly reduced. I feel like I can walk him and not be completely humiliated by his outbursts since I am generally in control of him and can see when he is becoming uncomfortable. I can truly say I have a happier dog and a much-improved relationship with him because of Dr. Radosta and her amazing clinical and behavioral experience.”
